We’re beginning to get our minds and bodies back from the busy and extended Independence Day holiday weekend. If you’re like me, you’ve had -zero- time to think about working out and eating sensibly. This got my brain spinning and when that happens, I feel the need to share. How can we RE-think what we consider a workout, and FIND a way to focus on burning calories where and when we can? I began brainstorming.
First and foremost, staying in motion is key. I bet you probably did some of these activities without even realizing you were working out. These activities are part of our everyday lives and they’re good for your body. Plus – each one burns about 175 calories!
- 20 minutes of moderate swimming
- 45 minutes of Frisbee
- 40 minutes of walking at a medium pace
- 30 minutes of kayaking or rafting
- 20 minutes of soccer
- 20 minutes of biking at an easy pace
- 30 minutes of lawn mowing
- 30 minutes of painting the house
If you did make time for your regular workout over the 4th, GOOD FOR YOU! No matter what, movement should be part of our everyday life and it is important to our overall health. Fit it in where you can!
Hope you had a great weekend with family & friends.
