Take this month to grow out all that hair! Think of the extra time you will have this No-Shave November, as you skip shaving, trimming, cutting, and waxing. Imagine knowing your simple act helped raise cancer awareness and maybe even some money toward vital research. Strict dress-code at the office? Grow what you can, where you can. Participation of any kind counts. If someone asks why you aren’t groomed as usual, it’s your perfect opportunity to talk cancer.
The Story Behind No-Shave November
The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. If you’re financially able, donate the money you usually spend on shaving and grooming for the month to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.
Folks have been participating in No-Shave November to raise cancer awareness for years (think, for example, of ‘Movember’). But in 2007, Matthew Hill passed away from colon cancer. Two years later, his family decided to embrace the movement and add a means to raise money for charity.
How to Register and Get Started
Participate by growing a beard, cultivating a mustache, letting those legs get naturally prickly, and/or skipping waxing appointments. However, f you’re not ready to sport a new shaggy look, consider donating anyway to support the cause.
