Vast List of Groups Opposing American Health Care Act

After at least seven years of misrepresenting and sabotaging the Affordable Care Act, the Republican Party’s Obamacare repeal and replace bill could not be in worse shape. Groups opposing American Health Care Act (AHCA) were quick to notify legislators of their apprehension with the plan.

The Politics of Healthcare

In this time of hyperpartisanship, it can be hard to find consensus on any one thing – especially healthcare. Democrats’ rejection of the Republican healthcare bill was a given. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s own GOP is the problem. The ultra-conservative Freedom Caucus does not like the legislation’s awkward spending. Moderate Republicans like Sen. Susan Collins, who previously introduced her own Obamacare repeal and replace bill, do not approve of drastic cuts to Medicaid and Medicare.

Everyone from the far left to the alt-right has serious reservations about passing the American Health Care Act. Their reasoning is the variant. Many anticipate instability will come to the health insurance and healthcare markets. Another common concern is the sharp premium increases looming for seniors and women. Planned Parenthood also faces a loss of 50% in reimbursements for non-abortive services.
