One of those Days: I Need Motivation

Everyone’s making Christmas cookies, pies, and all that jazz. Luckily, I can’t eat any of it unless they made it special for me because I have Celiac Disease. But that doesn’t stop me from smelling and craving sweet foods. I usually have a Chocolate Shakeology to help me through these cravings, but sometimes, it’s just not enough, and today is one of those days.

Everyone has one. They’re doing a great job with their new lifestyle (not a diet, a lifestyle!), then one day comes along where everything they’re doing is not enough. You can see yourself talking you into having just one cookie. You worked so hard, you deserve it. If it’s a healthy cookie, made with Shakeology or some other ingredient like granola and you know exactly how many calories, fat, and carbs are in the cookie, go for it. But most of the time, you’re staring at the cookies your mom made, and you know they’re made with shortening, butter, and heavy cream.

I usually take this time to close my eyes and remind myself why I chose this lifestyle. It wasn’t to deprive myself of great food, I am definitely not deprived. I want to be healthy, and I want my body, this one body I have, to be in the best condition it can be so I can enjoy life for as long as possible. I have a list of things I hope to accomplish now that I’m in the best shape of my life. And I feel better. And suddenly, those cookies aren’t as important to me anymore.

But here’s one more motivational picture just to remind you that you’re doing great.

By the way, I also wanted to say, if you did have a cookie or two, don’t beat yourself up over it. Just put in a harder workout. It’s the holidays, and you’re supposed to be stress free and relaxing. I just want to say, it’s okay. You can get back up again. Don’t derail yourself because you had a few cookies at a family event.
